Following the announcement of the Apple Watch Series 4, Apple has dropped the prices of its previous generation Apple Watch. The Apple Watch Series 3 now starts at Rs 28,900 for the GOS model, while the cellular model will cost Rs 37,900. To recall, Series 3 launched in India last year starting at Rs 29,900, but Apple soon hiked the price to Rs 32,380 due to a hike in custom duty. This comes on the same day as Apple slashed the prices of older iPhone models in the country.

The Apple Watch Series 3 getting a price cut was an expected move as Apple could soon bring Series 4 to the country. While Apple has provided the India pricing details of its new iPhones, the company is yet to announce what Series 4 will cost in India. In the US, Series 4 with GPS will start at $399 while the cellular model will be priced at $499. This translates to Rs 28,600 and Rs 35,800, respectively when converted. However, we expect the prices to be a little higher than this when the watch comes to India due to the rupee depreciation.

Apple has also slashed the prices of its Nike+ Series 3 models. The 38mm GPS variant of Apple Watch Nike+ Series 3 will now be available for Rs 28,900 while the 42mm model will cost Rs 31,900. The Cellular option will be available for Rs 37,900 for the 32mm variant and Rs 40,900 for the 42mm variant. While the Apple Watch Series 4 will ship with watchOS 5 out-of-the-box, Series 3 will also get upgraded to the latest software version on September 17.

The Apple Watch Series 4 announced on Wednesday brings an updated design and a redesigned UI along with a few notable health-based features. Apple has reduced the bezels to increase the size of the screen by over 30 per cent. It is powered by a new S4 chip that provides two times better performance than its predecessor. The company has also included features like ECG and fall detection among other things.
