BSNL upgrades FTTH plans, now offers up to 3.5TB data at 100Mbps: Report

BSNL has reportedly upgraded its FTTH plans in Chennai to offer more FUP and more data to boot in a bid to take on Jio’s GigaFiber service. The telco is said to have refreshed its entire portfolio of tariff plans in the Chennai circle offering up to 3.5TB data at 100Mbps in the process. BSNL notably offers FTTH services at Rs 999, Rs 1,299, Rs 1,699, Rs 1,999, Rs 2,999, and Rs 4,999 respectively.

The base Rs 999 BSNL FTTH broadband plan now offers 80Mbps of download, upload speeds with a high speed limit of 600GB post which the the speed will come down to 2Mbps. Previously, the same plan offered 250GB high speed data at 60Mbps.

The Rs 1,299 BSNL FTTH broadband plan now offers 100Mbps of download, upload speeds with a high speed limit of 800GB post which the the speed will come down to 2Mbps. Previously, the same plan offered 400GB high speed data at 80Mbps.

The Rs 1,699 BSNL FTTH broadband plan now offers 100Mbps of download, upload speeds with a high speed limit of 1.1TB post which the the speed will come down to 2Mbps. Previously, the same plan offered 550GB high speed data at 80Mbps.

The Rs 1,999 BSNL FTTH broadband plan now offers 100Mbps of download, upload speeds with a high speed limit of 1.4TB post which the the speed will come down to 2Mbps. Previously, the same plan offered 800GB high speed data at 80Mbps.

The Rs 2,999 BSNL FTTH broadband plan now offers 100Mbps of download, upload speeds with a high speed limit of 2TB post which the the speed will come down to 2Mbps. Previously, the same plan offered 900GB high speed data at 80Mbps.

The Rs 4,999 BSNL FTTH broadband plan now offers 100Mbps of download, upload speeds with a high speed limit of 3.5TB post which the the speed will come down to 2Mbps. Previously, the same plan offered 1.5TB high speed data at 100Mbps.

The said refresh of plans is currently said to be available in the Chennai circle alone, and it is yet to be seen if the telco makes at least some of these updated plans in other circles in the days to come. BSNL’s reported revamp of its FTTH plans is clearly aimed at Jio’s GigaFiber service which is currently in testing phase. Reliance Industries recently announced that customers across over 1,100 cities had registered interest to avail the telco’s JioGigaFiber services since the start of registrations on August 15 this year. Jio is now in the process of setting up services on priority basis depending on the number of requests received in an area.
