Google will host its hardware event on October 9 in New York, the company has confirmed by sending out invites for it. As already rumoured for a long time now, Google is expected to launch the third generation Pixel phones, aka the Pixel 3 and the Pixel 3 XL on the slated date. A lot has already been revealed about the upcoming Pixel phones. The Pixel 3 will succeed last year’s Pixel 2, while the Pixel 3 XL will be the follow-up device of the Pixel 2 XL.

As far as the design is concerned, the Pixel 3 might borrow the same design details from the Pixel 2, but that may not be the case with Pixel 3 XL. The 3 XL is said to follow the current market trend and come with a notch. However, the leaked images reveal that the notch on the Pixel 3 XL will be much wide than that of the iPhone X. Rumours also suggest that both the Pixel 3 and the Pixel 3 XL will come with glass design, which increases the chances for wireless charging support.

Both the Pixel 3 and the Pixel 3 XL are expected to come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset and single rear camera. On the front, the Pixel 3 is said to come with single selfie camera, but Pixel 3 XL is expected to sport dual cameras on the front. As far as the camera specs are concerned, both the Pixel 3 and the Pixel 3 XL are tipped to sport 12-megapixel sensor with an aperture of f/1.8, dual pixel PDAF and laser-assisted auto focus. The cameras in Pixel 2 and the Pixel 2 XL are brilliant and the best in the business and chances are that the Pixel 3 and the Pixel 3 XL will follow the same.

The Pixel 3 is expected to come with thick bezels on the top and bottom of the display, but compared to the Pixel 3, the Pixel 3 XL will boast of slimmer bezels and will also be thinner. The notch in the Pixel 3 XL is also a certainty because of the Android P, which will power this phone. Some other leaked images show that just like the earlier Pixel phones, the new Pixels will have a dual-tone design. The fingerprint sensor will sit on the rear cover, the leaked image shows.

The Pixel 3 XL will definitely be bigger in size than the Pixel 3. Rumours suggest that the Pixel 3 will come with a 5.4-inch OLED display. The Pixel 3 XL, on the other hand, is expected to come with a 6.2-inch OLED display. The 3 XL is expected to come with an edge-to-edge design, aspect ratio of 19:9 and screen-to-body ratio of 94.4 per cent. The Pixel 3 XL will come with OLED panel, with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on it.

Amidst the rumours, what is confirmed for the next Pixel phones is that it will come with the Android P, the latest version of Android which should be available as a public release for select phones this month. The Pixel 3 and the Pixel 3 XL will be among the first devices to launch with Google’s latest operating system, Android P, which is currently in its final developer preview stage.

Furthermore, alongside the new Pixel phones, Google may release a wireless charging stand called the Pixel Stand on October 9. The Pixel stand is said to have Google Assistant built in it.

The final price of the Pixel 3 and the Pixel 3 XL is yet to be revealed by Google. But, rumours suggest that the Pixel 3 XL will be priced around $750, which roughly translates to Rs 53,000, while the Pixel 3 will cost $650, which when converted to INR comes around Rs 45,000. Meanwhile, the leaked retail box reveals that this year’s Pixel phones will come bundled with Pixel buds which will cost around $150 (roughly Rs 10500) if bought separately.
