Apple last night at WWDC 2018 announced the successor to iOS 11 aka iOS 12. It is the next biggest software update for iPhone users using iOS 11 and it comes with a host of new features like new AR apps, Memojis, Group FaceTime, Group Notifications, Siri shortcuts and more.

Apple says that iOS 12 brings performance improvements to more devices than any previous version. The new iOS launches camera up to 70 per cent, apps up to 50 per cent, and keyboards up to 50 per cent faster on devices.

The final roll out of iOS 12 will take place around September 2018 but for those of you who can’t wait, there are two ways to get your hands on the new OS. Please note that these are pre-released versions of OS that are made available to developers and builders for testing.

But it is advisable to never play with the beta build of iOS 12 as it will be full of bugs and can trouble your phone’s normal operations. Also, it is very important to back up your device before you download the iOS 12 beta version as you may end up losing all your data iin case anything goes wrong.

After you are done backing up your device, here are two ways how you can try out the new OS:

–You can sign up for Apple Developer program that costs USD99. The program is aimed at developers to let them try the new OS and report bugs in it. Install a provisioning profile, download the updated over-the-air or the full builds and load through iTunes or Xcode.

— Second, you can sign up for Apple’s beta program and register with your Apple ID. Once done, log into the beta software program and click on Enroll your iOS device. Now go to beta.apple.com/profile on your iOS device and download configuration profile. Once installed, the beta version will show up in the Settings app, under General, Software Update in your phone. The public beta program for iOS 12 is not available yet. It is expected to come later this month.

iOS12 beta program is supported on most of the latest iOS devices including iPad Air, iPad Air 2, iPad Pro, iPad Pro, iPad mini 2/3/4, iPhone SE, iPhone 8/8 Plus and iPhone X.
