Apple announced three new iPhones last month of which two have already gone on sale in India. The iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max have been available for a few weeks now with some pretty expensive price tags in the country. The iPhone XR, on the other hand, is yet to go on sale, but pre-orders for the device will begin starting Friday, October 19 in over 50 countries including India.

The iPhone XR is the cheapest of the three new iPhones starting at Rs 76,900 for the 64GB variant. The XR will also be available in 128GB and 256GB storage variants priced at Rs 81,900 and Rs 91,900, respectively. In comparison, both the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max start at around Rs 1,00,000. While pre-order for the iPhone XR will begin tomorrow, the device will go on sale starting October 26 across Apple Authorised Resellers in India. The iPhone XR should also be available on some e-commerce platforms as well, but details on that are still unknown at the moment.

The iPhone XR falls well below the iPhone XS and XS Max because it brings an LCD display rather than OLED. The device also gets a single camera sensor on the back instead of dual cameras as on the other two iPhones. The XR also brings a 7000 series aerospace-grade aluminium frame that’s sandwiched between glass on the front and back rather than a stainless steel frame. Apple says the glass is the most durable ever on a smartphone. The glass panel on the back also enables wireless charging support.

Unlike the iPhone XS and XS Max which come in Gold, Silver and Space Gray colours, the iPhone XR gets several attractive colour options that includes White, Black, Blue, Coral, Yellow and (PRODUCT) Red. The iPhone XR also supports dual SIM (nano SIM + eSIM), but it remains to be seen whether the eSIM option will be available in India as there are limited carriers that support eSIM as of now. Additionally, the iPhone XR is IP67 rated for dust and water resistance.

In terms of size, the iPhone XR slots between the iPhone XS and XS Max. It gets a 6.1-inch LCD Liquid Retina HD display (1792×828). It is powered by the A12 Bionic chipset and brings 3GB of RAM as per a benchmark site. The iPhone XR also supports Face ID and will ship with iOS 12. The single 12MP wide-angle camera on the back comes with OIS and f/1.8 aperture. The front sees a 7MP TrueDepth camera similar to the other two iPhones.
