Is OnePlus 6T price higher than price of OnePlus 6? Yes and no

Last night when OnePlus launched the OnePlus 6T in India, the company also revealed its prices. Yet, again the price of the OnePlus phone inches upwards. Or does it? On paper, the OnePlus 6T does have a starting price that is higher than the starting price of the OnePlus 6. But a case can also be made that the base variant of the OnePlus 6T is no more expensive than the base variant of the OnePlus 6 when you see what you are getting.

So, is OnePlus 6T starting price is higher than the price of OnePlus 6? The answer is yes and no.

See it like this: The OnePlus 6 debuted at a starting price of Rs 34,999. This was for the variant with 6GB RAM and 64GB internal storage. This time, OnePlus has decided to not launch the 64GB variant. Instead, it gives users the 6GB RAM plus 128GB base variant. And the price for this variant of the OnePlus 6T is Rs 37,999, which is Rs 3,000 higher than the price of the base variant of the OnePlus 6. But paying slightly higher price consumers also get 128GB storage, which in the case of OnePlus 6 used to cost Rs 39,999. Although, in this case of OnePlus 6, you also got 8GB RAM if you paid Rs 39,999.

So OnePlus has increased the price of its flagship phone with the OnePlus 6T but it has done so in a way that softens the blow. You can event argue that by giving users 128GB storage at a price of Rs 37,999, the company has offered a fair deal to users.

In the case of 8GB RAM variants, however, it is clear that there is a price increase. The OnePlus 6T with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage costs Rs 41,999, which is Rs 2000 higher than the price of the OnePlus 6 with same RAM and storage combination. In the case of 8GB RAM and 256GB variant of the OnePlus 6T too the price has gone up. It costs Rs 45,999 and that is yet again Rs 2000 more than what the Oneplus 6 with similar RAM and storage configuration would cost.

The OnePlus 6T is the new flagship phone from OnePlus 6T. It uses a design and core hardware similar to that of the OnePlus 6. This means it has a similar metal and glass body and Snapdragon 845 processor inside it. But it also comes with a bigger battery — 3700 mAh — and a bigger 6.4-inch screen with a waterdrop notch. The OnePlus 6T also houses a fingerprint sensor that is placed under its display. The camera hardware — and performance — in the OnePlus 6T is similar to that of the OnePlus 6.
