Has Instagram really changed the way you scroll through your feed? Well, you must have experienced it last night but in reality that isn’t the case. It was a bug that changed the Instagram feed scrolling from up and downwards to side-to-side. Last night, Instagram pushed out an update which brought the sideways scrolling of feed. The update wasn’t rolled out to all and only a few managed to use it. Users who got upgraded to the new sideways scrolling feed update went absolutely crazy and started complaining about the feature.

Soon after the users started talking about the new side-to-side scrolling feature and expressed how disgusted and irritating it is to use Instagram now, the Facebook-owned photo-sharing app clarified that it is a was a bug that’s responsible for the change in the way users use Instagram and this isn’t a new feature. Instagram also said that the bug has been fixed and Instagram is back to the usual up and downwards scrolling.

After users went crazy and started complaining about the new Instagram news feed layout the company spokesperson in a note to the media said, “Due to a bug, some users saw a change to the way their feed appears today. We quickly fixed the issue and feed is back to normal. We apologize for any confusion.” Although Instagram says that this was a bug, users believe it wasn’t. Users believe it was a new feature and after receiving backlash from people around the world the company is justifying itself by saying that a bug was responsible for it.

The side-to-side feed scrolling feature reportedly was a mimic of the Instagram Stories. Some reports claim that after the huge success of the stories feature Instagram believed that users might like the news feed work in a similar manner too. But sadly, the attempt failed miserably. The side-to-side feed scrolling feature worked similar to how the Stories feature works. As in the case of stories the feed automatically changed from one picture to the other.

Users who were updated to the new feature got a message from Instagram that informed them about the new change in the way they use the app. The message read: “Introducing a new way to move through posts,” the pop-up reads, alongside a message encouraging people to try it out. “Tap through posts, just like you tap through stories.”

After the update was rolled out, users all across the world started complaining about the new feature and said if this remains they would leave the app and delete their profiles. Not just that, the users started trolling Instagram with memes that flooded the internet. Here are some of the funniest memes that users posted after the UI interface
