Motorola is all set to bring its affordable Moto G6 and G6 Play to India on Monday after unveiling them in Brazil back in April. The G6 duo are among the first set of Moto phones for the year and come with a refreshed new design language along with updated specs compared to last year’s Moto G5 phones. Notably, the Moto G6 Play makes a comeback after the Moto G4 Play back in 2016. The Moto G6 is expected to be priced under Rs 15,000 while the G6 Play is expected to slot somewhere under Rs 10,000.

With the Moto G6 line, the company has taken a dramatically different road in terms of design compared to its predecessors. The Moto G6, G6 Plus and G6 Play all sport tall 18:9 display that keep them in line with today’s industry trend. Additionally, the Moto G6 and Moto G6 Plus come with an all-glass design with a Moto X4-like 3D glass back, moving away from the metal design of the Moto G5. Despite the narrow bezels, both the phones sport a home button on the front which houses a fingerprint sensor. The Moto G6 Play doesn’t sport a glass back, but it does come with a glass coating.

MOTO G6

The Moto G6 sports a 5.7-inch full-HD+ Max Vision IPS display and is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 450 chipset clocked at 1.8GHz. It is offered in two variants – 3GB + 32GB and 4GB + 64GB – and we expect both the variants to make it to India. On the back, the phone comes with a circular rear camera setup with dual sensors that includes one 12-megapixel sensor and a secondary 5-megapixel sensor for depth sensing. Up front, you get an 8-megapixel selfie snapper with a Group Selfie mode. Additionally, the handset is backed by a 3,000mAh battery with support for fast charging and runs Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box.

Meanwhile, the Moto G6 Play is the cheapest model in the series and sports a similar 5.7-inch bezel-less display with an aspect ratio of 18:9. However, this one comes with an HD+ resolution. It is powered by a 1.4GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 427 processor and comes in two variants – 2GB + 16GB and 3GB and 32GB, but we’re not sure yet whether both the variants will come to the country.

Unlike the Moto G6, the G6 Play gets a single 13-megapixel rear sensor with f/2.0 aperture. It bears an 8-megapixel sensor up front and runs near stock Android 8.0 Oreo software out-of-the-box. Notably, the G6 Play gets a larger 4,000mAh battery with fast charge support.

MOTO G6, G6 PLAY EXPECTED PRICE IN INDIA

The Moto G6 is priced at $249 outside, which translates to around Rs 17,000, while the G6 Play costs $199, approximately Rs 13,000. The official India price of the Moto G6 is yet to be announced but it should be around the same figure or even lower. In fact, we expect the G6 Play to be priced under Rs 10,000 while the Moto G6 should start around Rs 15,000. Motorola is expected to confirm the pricing of the Moto G6 and G6 Play on June 4 along with possible launch offers as well.
