Motorola has launched the Motorola One Power in India. The phone is part of the company’s new Motorola One line of Android One phone, which means the One Power first and foremost is all about bringing stock Android Oreo with a promise of monthly updates. This, Motorola says, is one of the most requested features from consumers and the One Power looks to fill that gap in the company’s portfolio. The Motorola One Power is designed specifically for the Indian market, with features that are most popular with consumers in the country at a value price point.

The Motorola One Power has been priced at Rs 15,999. This is noticeably cheaper and more competitively priced than the Moto G6 Plus that was launched a few weeks ago at around Rs 23,000. The One Power will be available in one variant. The device will be sold exclusively on Flipkart starting October 5 at 12pm. Registrations for the device starts September 24.

MOTOROLA ONE POWER SPECIFICATIONS

In terms of design, the Motorola One Power is the first Motorola phone to come with a notched display in India. The One Power sports a 6.2-inch FHD+ display with a 19:9 aspect ratio and 450 nits brightness. Notably, the phone comes with Widevine L1 certification so you can watch Netflix in HD resolution. Overall, the phone has a compact look thanks to an edge-to-edge display, but it is bound to be on the heavier side of things thanks to a large battery capacity inside. The back panel is largely metal with some plastic on the top and bottom. The bottom of the phone sees Dolby Audio-powered speakers on either sides of a USB Type-C port.

On the back, you can see a vertical dual camera setup and a fingerprint sensor embedded in the Moto dimple. Powering the One Power is a 1.8GHz Snapdragon 636 chipset which is coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage with support for expandability. One major highlight is that the One Power houses a 5,000mAh battery that will deliver a good two days of battery life on a single charge. The device supports fast charging with a 15W TurboPower charger bundled with the box. The handset supports two SIMs and a dedicated microSD card slot. Motorola says the device comes with a splash proof P2i coating and a silicone case with the box.

As for the camera, the One Power comes with a 16MP + 5MP setup on the back and a 12-megapixel sensor on the front. The cameras support bokeh mode, Pro mode and 4K video recording, among other things. Arguably the biggest USP about the One Power is that it is part of the Android One program, which means stock Android Oreo out-of-the-box with a promise of monthly security updates for three years and two major software updates. Motorola promises the One Power will be updated to Android 9 Pie by the end of the year. The device also brings Google Lens directly in the camera app as well as Google Photos with access to unlimited high quality photo storage. Motorola is also keeping some of its custom features such as Moto Actions and Moto Display.

The Motorola One Power is a Made in India phone with features that look to please consumers in the country. Android One allows the company deliver faster updates than ever before, while a 5,000mAh battery will solve the consumer’s needs for a long-lasting smartphone. The phone will be taking on the likes of the Nokia 6.1 Plus and Redmi Note 5 Pro in the country.
