Xiaomi has finally launched its first waterdrop notched display phone, the Mi Play. Ahead of the launch, the smartphone has been subjected to several leaks and rumours and almost everything was already revealed about the phone. The Mi Play is a looker and comes with gradient finish like some of the recently launched Realme, Honor and Asus phones. The Xiaomi phone unlike what was rumoured comes in three colour options — Black, Blue, and Red — and all of them come with gradient finish on the back which gives the phone a premium touch. Xiaomi has launched the Mi Play in China and as of now, there’s no report if the phone will head to India or not.

As far as the specifications are concerned, the rumours turn true. The Xiaomi Mi Play sports a Full HD+ display that measures 5.84-inches in size paired with Pixel Per Inch (PPI) of 432 PPI and an aspect ratio of 19:9. The screen of the Mi Play comes coupled with the resolution of 1080×2280 pixels. On the front, the Mi Play includes a waterdrop notch which equips the single selfie camera. Like all other waterdrop/teardrop notched phones the Mi Play also hides the sensors and the earpiece, so that they are not visible from the outside.

On the hardware front, the Mi Play is powered by an octa-core 2.3 GHz MediaTek Helio P35 12nm processor with GPU Turbo graphics. Going in line with the rumours, this Xiaomi phone does come bundled with 10GB free data per month for a year.

Coming to the back panel of the Mi Play, the phone comes with gradient finish which gives it a premium touch and makes it look costlier, which it isn’t. On the top left corner of the back panel the Xiaomi play includes a dual camera setup which is aligned in a vertical fashion. In the middle of the back panel, there’s a circular shaped fingerprint sensor which will let the users unlock the phone with just a finger touch.

Unlike what was rumoured, the Mi Play comes in only one variant with 4GB of RAM memory and 64GB of internal storage which can be expanded further via microSD card to up to 256GB. On the camera front, the Mi Play includes two cameras on the back side and one sensor on the front. The rear panel includes a primary sensor of 12-megapixel while the second camera is of 2-megapixel sensor. On the front the Mi Play comes packed with 8-megapixel sensor with AI support. The Mi Play is backed by a 3,000mAh battery which sits inside a plastic body.

Xiaomi has launched the Mi Play for 1099 yuan, which when roughly translated comes around Rs 11,000. As of now, the Mi Play has been launched only in China and there’s no word if Xiaomi will bring the phone to India or not.
