Golfer Jyoti Randhawa arrested for poaching, officials recover gun and wild boar skin

Indian golfer Jyoti Randhawa has been arrested on poaching charges in Uttar Pradesh’s Bahraich. An A-22 rifle, a vehicle and other hunting equipment have been recovered from Randhawa.

The District Forrest Officer Katerniaghat is currently interrogating Randhawa – further legal action will likely be taken against the golfer.

Randhawa, once one of India’s most celebrated golfers, is the ex-husband of Bollywood actress Chitrangada Singh.

Details continue to emerge after the sensational development – a vehicle (HR26 DN 5299) has been recovered along with a weapon and other equipment. Everything has been seized.

Wild boar skin, binoculars and a gun were recovered from a vehicle which was registered in Randhawa’s name.

Randhawa drew suspicion upon himself after he was found driving around in Motipur in Katarniaghat where he owns a farm. He had allegedly killed a jungle fowl on Tuesday before he was intercepted in the forest.

Chitrangada and Randhawa were divorced in 2014 .The two have a son named Zorawar Randhawa, whose custody has been given to Chitrangada.

Randhawa turned a professional golfer in 1994. Since then, He won 8 titles on the Asian Tour – Hero Honda Masters (1998, 1999), Wills Indian Open (2000), SIngapore Open (2000), Volvo Masters of Asia (2004), Hero Honda Indian Open (2006, 2007) and Singha Thailand Open (2009). His best finish on the European Tour is tied second in 2004 Johnnie Walker Classic. Randhawa also represented India in the Golf World Cup in 2005, 2007, 2008 and 2009.

Randhawa recently took up the sport of shooting professionally and also participated in national shooting championships.
