Jallikattu supporters, including students, who gathered in VOC park here from various parts of Coimbatore, continued their protest even after 7 p.m.

The agitators, who began their protest around noon, demanded that the students and activists who were arrested on Tuesday in Alanganallur be released immediately. They also demanded that People for Ethnic Treatment of Animals (PETA) be banned from India.

Since the organisers of the exhibition that is currently on at the venue failed to switch on the regular lights, students used their mobile flash lights as it was too dark.

Police officials held talks with the protesters, who said they would not stop the protest until those arrested were released.
