Three miscreants stole a two wheeler, a smartphone and foreign currency worth Rs 50,000 near Sungam here on Friday.

According to Race Course police, Shrikanth, 34, of Sivaramnagar near Sungam here was riding a two-wheeler in Addis Street when he was accosted by three unidentified persons who threatened him and robbed him of this valuable things as also the bike. Though he raised an alarm, the culprits escaped even as people nearby gathered.

Based on his complaint, a case has been registered. “Further investigation is on and we will nab the miscreants soon,” a senior official said.

People from the area alleged that this type of incidents have been happening regularly. Chain-snatching and theft too were taking place and there was need for police to take steps immediately, they added.
