In a statement, DMK Working President MK Stalin said, “There will be no benefit from the inquiry commission announced by the state government.”

Opposition DMK today stuck to its demand of a CBI probe into the death of former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, saying the inquiry commission set up by the Tamil Nadu government would not serve the purpose.

In a statement, DMK Working President MK Stalin said, “There will be no benefit from the inquiry commission announced by the state government.”The government earlier in the day set up an inquiry commission and named Justice (Retd) Arumugasamy as its head.

Mr Stalin, who has been pressing for a CBI probe into the matter, referred to senior minister ‘Dindigul’
C Srinivasan’s recent apology for “lying” to the people about the health of Jayalalithaa and London-based specialist Richard Beale’s earlier statement that proper treatment was given to her.

He held AIADMK leaders, including VK Sasikala, Chief Minister K Palaniswami and his deputy O Panneerselvam responsible for “the big mystery surrounding Jayalalithaa’s death”.”The different statements issued by Ministers have exposed that there is a big mystery,” Mr Stalin added.

“Considering the magnitude of the investigation which would require questioning of various persons including Union ministers, the London specialist, doctors from Singapore, AIIMS, there is no doubt that a CBI enquiry alone will be suitable,” he said.

Mr Stalin, the Leader of the Opposition in the state assembly, urged the Centre to issue orders for a CBI probe in order to bring out the truth behind the demise of Jayalalithaa.
