Tamil Nadu CPI today urged the new State Governor, Banwarilal Purohit to take steps to resolve various problems in the State, particularly with the regard to issue of majority of ruling party and MLAs.

The State at present is ruled by a minority government, which neither has the support of MLAs nor the people of Tamil Nadu, the Party Secretary R Mutharasan told reporters here this evening.

Stating that no action was taken by the former Governor against the 19 ruling party MLAs, who had withdrawn support to Chief Minister, Edappadi Palanisamy and were disqualified, Mutharasan however said that the 11 MLAs who had voted against the Government in the Assembly continued to be in AIADMK.

The governor should look into this and take action under constitution, he said. With regard to inquiry into the death of former Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa, he said that only CBI inquiry will bring out the truth, since the inquiry commission led by Arumugasamy will not be in a position to summon and carry out inquiry with the doctors from Singapore, London and also the incumbent State ministers.

Terming the Government as ‘non-functioning’, the CPI leader said that it has totally failed to control the spread of Dengue, which has taken a toll of over 30 persons and affeted more than 10,000 in the State.

Seeking the resignation of the Government, which was functioning “llegally and against constitution,” the party is organising the Statewide demonstration in all the district headquarters on October three, Mutharasan said.
