Increasing drowning incidents: Kiran Bedi holds meeting

Puducherry : Puducherry Lt. Governor Kiran Bedi held meeting with top police, tourism, fisheries and Coast Guard officials following the increasing number of deaths due to drowning in the beach here.

According to sources, officials would visit the accident sites and initiate steps to prevent such mishaps. The meeting decided to put up caution boards and instruct restaurant and bar owners to alert visitors about the danger areas of the sea.

If any case of drowning, it would be examined whether precautionary measures were taken or not. Boats stationed on the shore should be ready for operation at any point of time in case of emergency.
