The wait is finally over. Xiaomi India Managing Director Manu Jain on Thursday announced via a tweet that a 48MP camera Redmi phone is coming to India soon. Undoubtedly with the 48MP camera phone Jain is definitely hinting at the Redmi Note 7 which went official in China earlier this month and comes with the same camera set up on the back panel.

The Redmi Note 7 is the first phone from the company under the now independent Redmi brand which will be followed by Redmi Note 7 Pro and Redmi Go in the upcoming months. Soon after the smartphone was launched in China people in India went crazy on social media requesting Xiaomi to bring the Redmi Note 7 in India. Xiaomi is indeed listening to the requests and has announced that the Redmi Note 7 is coming to India very soon.

Xiaomi is yet to reveal the exact launch date of the Redmi Note 7 but we believe the smartphone could be launching in the first half of February or maybe if only the company can pull it off there could be a January end launch. Manu Jain in his Twitter post claims that the Redmi Note 7 will “turn the industry upside down”.

Redmi Note 7 expected India price

In China, the Redmi Note 7 was launched for as low as 999 yuan which roughly translates to Rs 10,500. This makes us believe that even in India the Redmi Note 7 could be priced this aggressively and may come with a price tag of around Rs 10,000 or slightly higher than that.

Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 7 in three models in China and the same three variants of the phone could be heading to India. The base model of the Redmi Note 7 packs 3GB RAM/32GB of internal storage and comes for 999 yuan (roughly around Rs 10,500). The second variant of the Note 7 comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage at 1199 yuan, which roughly translates to around Rs 12,400. Lastly, the top-end model of the Redmi Note 7 comes with 6GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage which will be available for 1399 yuan, roughly translates to Rs 14,500.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 specifications

We expect Xiaomi to launch the same China model of the Redmi Note 7 in India as well. To recall the specs of the Redmi Note 7, the phone comes packed with a 6.3-inch full-HD+ LTPS display with screen resolution of 1080×2340 pixels and aspect ratio of 19.5:9. The Redmi Note 7 is powered by 2.2GHz Snapdragon 660 octa-core SoC coupled with Adreno 512 GPU, with up to 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage that can be expanded further up to 256GB via microSD card. The phone is backed by a 4,000mAh battery with Quick Charge 4 support.

On the camera front, the Redmi Note 7 includes two cameras on the back and single sensor on the front. On the rear panel, the Redmi Note 7 comes with a primary camera of a 48MP sensor with f/1.8 aperture, while the secondary camera includes a 5MP sensor for capturing depth/portrait pictures. On the front, the Redmi Note 7 includes a 13-megapixel camera and include features like AI face unlock, AI smart beauty, AI single shot blur, and others.

On the software front, the Redmi Note 7 runs MIUI 9 based on Android Oreo and not Android Pie based on MIUI 10. But considering some of the Xiaomi phones are getting upgraded to MIUI 10 and Android 9 Pie, we expect the latest software to come to Redmi Note 7 very soon.
