Court grants interim bail to Robert Vadra

The Patiala House Court in New Delhi has granted interim bail to Congress president Rahul Gandhi’s brother-in-law Robert Vadra till February 16.
In addition to this, Vadra has to pay the court a surety amount of Rs 1 lakh. He also has been asked to be present before the court on February 6 at 4 pm.
Robert Vadra moved the court, on Friday, seeking anticipatory bail in a money laundering case lodged by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
The ground on which Robert Vadra sought bail was his claim of being a law-abiding citizen. He said that he was being subjected to false prosecution.
The case relates to allegations of money laundering during the purchase of a London-based property — located at 12, Bryanston Square — worth 1.9 million pounds, which is allegedly owned by Vadra.
Vadra’s sought for bail after the court granted anticipatory bail to his alleged aide Manoj Arora, who is also accused in the case.
Arora was given interim bail till February 6 after he told the court that he was ready to join the investigation.
Arora had also earlier alleged before the court that the case was foisted on him by the NDA government out of “political vendetta”.
