3 militants killed in encounter in Jammu and Kashmir

Two Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militants were killed on Friday in a fierce gunfight with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district.One of the militants killed in the encounter in the district’s Hajin area was identified as Pakistan-based LeT commander Ali Bhai.

In a separate incident,another militant has been killed in an ongoing encounter in Shopian district’s Ratnipora area,which started in the wee hours of Friday.The firing was ongoing from both the sides as of the last update.

Officials said two to three militants were believed to be trapped inside a house in Ratnipora.

A team of police and 34 Rashtriya Rifles of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were carrying out a cordon and search operation in the area.

Five militants have been gunned down in four separate encounters in Jammu and Kashmir in the last 24 hours.
