Udhagamandalam: With just a few days to go,the 7th edition of the Ooty Literary Festival (OLF) has generated considerable interest ,not only in this vacation destination but also elsewhere.

Organised by the Ooty Literary Trust and hosted by the prestigious 164 year old Nilgiri Library, the OLF will be held on October 6 and 7.

Having grown in importance, popularity and stature over the years, the OLF,this year, has gone in for a great deal of value addition ,particularly in terms of variety.

According to the organisers the festival is evolving into a new avatar. Re-imagined with an enriching assembly of literature, art, music and local culture resonating with the spirit of Ooty’s bicentennial celebration, it will inter alia mirror the vibrant cultural heritage of Tamil Nadu. There will be a special session in honour of Tamil literature. Focus will be on ecological issues.

Highlights of the event, apart from presentations by celebrated authors, include a photo exhibition on the social history of the Nilgiris, an artistic tribute to the blue hills and a mix of Indian classical, blues and jazz concerts.Called the Ooty Litfest Precinct,a special area, very close to the Nilgiri Library, has been dedicated to the festival.
