Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa marked the last day of the Assembly session by making a slew of announcements under Rule 110 to the differently-abled, who were on an agitational path for the last few days to press their demands.

As the last session of the Tamil Nadu Assembly of the five-year-old rule of the AIADMK drew to a close, Jayalalithaa said she had a sense of pride in lighting the lives of the differently-abled people by announcing a slew of welfare measures to them, while expressing gratitude to the members of the Opposition parties for their support.

Stating that she was extremely happy to function as Chief Minister along with the members who were elected to the 14th Assembly, Jayalalithaa said: “Though the debates were

intense and heated on several occasions, I thank the Opposition legislators for conducting themselves without any animosity during the proceedings”.

Pointing out that the State Legislature was the hallmark of people’s rule, the Chief Minister said ”it provided a rare opportunity for us to work for the welfare of the people”.

The CM also thanked Speaker P. Dhanapal and Leader of the House O. Panneerselvam for maintaining neutrality and functioning in an unbiased manner.
