District Collector Archana Patnaik, who is also the election officer, today discussed with top election and police officials the ways and means to handle situations in politically sensitive areas and booths during polling.

The meeting was attended, among others, by the City Police Commissioner A. Amalraj, Superintendent of Police Ramya Bharati, Deputy Commissioner Nisha Parthiban and Returning officers in the district, official sources said.

The Collector asked the officials to identify the possible sensitive and vulnerable areas and to take precautionary measures to prevent any eventualities during electioneering.

Similarly, additional forces should be deployed in the booths, identified as politically sensitive, where election officials should pay visit at regular intervals.
