In a shocking incident a father killed his 19 year old autistic son before attempting to kill himself at a light in Gandhipuram.

The police are investigating the death of the teenage boy, who was also polio- affected. According to sources in the Katoor police station the boy was allegedly poisoned by his own father. The man had also attempted to kill himself after doing his son to death, the police said.

On arrival at the lodge the man had identified himself as Anandhan, from Thanjavur and had checked in with his son, on March 7. He had told the lodge managers that he had brought his son to Coimbatore for medical treatment.

The two were given a room on the second floor. As they were to check-out on Saturday, but had not come out of the room, the manager had gone to the room to check on them. When there was no response from the room he broke the door open and found the man and his son unconscious on the bed.

The city police were immediately. However, the teenage boy, Mohana Reuben, had succumbed to poison. His father, whose real name was later ascertained as S Ravi, 47, from Chennai, has been admitted to the I Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH). His condition is said to be critical.

Further investigations are on.
