DMK candidate kicks off campaigning in Thanjavur

The DMK candidate for Thanjavur constituency, Dr. Anjugam Boopathi, today began her campaigning in Vallam town panchayat area.

Accompanied by party’s Thanjavur urban town secretary T.K.G. Neelamegam, MLA M. Ramachandran (Orathanadu constituency), Thanjavur district Congress president T. Krishnasamy Vandayar. and local party functionaries, Dr. Anjugam earlier garlanded the statues of Periyar and Anna.

Dr. Anjugam and the AIADMK candidate, M. Rangasamy, are expected to file their nominations on October 28.(Filing of nominations begin on October 26.)

The People Welfare Front (PWF) has decided not to contest the elections for Thanjavur constituency, while the DMDK is yet to make its stand known as to whether to contest or not.

Meanwhile, the Nationalist Congress Party, which has no vote bank worth mentioning in the State, has named its State general secretary Karikal Chozhan as its candidate. Though the BJP has declared that it would contest, it is yet to announce its candidate.
