BJP National Secretary H Raja today said that more than the common man, politicians will be hit hard by the scheme of scrapping Rs. 500 and Rs. 1,000 notes by the NDA government.

Without elaborating on his remarks, Raja told reporters here that the poor and common man will have limited effect due to this sudden announcement, but politicians will have a larger impact.

Stating that the scheme was announced to improve and stabilise the country’s economy, he said there was no point in approaching the court against such a drive, particularly by some politicians.

Those who filed the PIL against the initiative were against the nation’s interest and wanted to seek cheap publicity, he alleged.

He also said that those who convert the Rs. 500 and Rs. 1,000 notes into gold ornaments will definitely come under the Income Tax department scanner if they were found to possess gold more than their known income.

To a question on the much-awaited Jallikkattu, Raja said that a bill would be introduced in the next Parliament session and Jallikkattu would definitely be celebrated during the upcoming Pongal, the harvest festival of Tamil Nadu.
