The 31st graduation ceremony of PSG Institute of Medical Sciences and Research was held today in the main auditorium.

147 MBBS graduates and 50 postgraduates received their degree certificates. Twenty gold medals for undergraduate students, four postgraduate gold medals and academic awards were also presented.

Dr Aditi S won the coveted ‘GRG Memorial Gold Medal’ for the best all-round graduate. Dr. Swaathi Shri V M won the highest award of the institute the ‘GV Memorial Gold Medal’ for the best outgoing graduate.

Welcoming the August gathering, the Principal, Dr. T. M. SubbaRao, said that this day represents the culmination of years of hard work, dedication, and perseverance. He expressed his deepest gratitude to the faculty and staff who have guided the students through their educational journey. He acknowledged the families, guardians and well-wishers of the young graduates and post-graduates, for their unwavering support, encouragement, and love.

Sri. L. Gopalakrishnan, Managing Trustee of PSG Institutions presided over the function. He informed that PSG Institute of Medical Sciences and Research has ranked consistently within the top 50 among all the medical colleges of India as per the National Institute Ranking Framework. It was possible because of the splendid performance of the students and faculty in terms of academics and research, apart from the infrastructural and other support systems extended by the management.
Dr. Someshwaran, Associate Professor of Microbiology administered the oath of Hippocrates to the fresh graduates, while Dr. A. Murali, Professor of Medicine, gave charge to the new graduates. He stressed the need for teamwork, partnership and effective communication.

The Chief Guest of the function, Dr Randeep Gularia, could not come due to a last-minute emergency. However, he shared his message with the young graduates. He said, “Graduation is the beginning of a new journey that would be fulfilling and full of challenges. I congratulate the students for learning from one of the premier medical schools in India. Medicine is both a science and an art. As doctors we deal with human lives, and therefore one needs to demonstrate utmost commitment. Medicine is changing very dramatically. You are living through a revolution, and it is blurring the boundaries between physical, digital and biological spheres. We are actually living through a technological revolution and this will change how we practice medicine. But as we go and have technology coming into medicine it’s important for us to remember that we don’t forget the human touch.”
