Archaeology workshop takes off at Govt. Arts College

Collector Archana Patnaik, on Wednesday, inaugurated a 15-day archaeological workshop of the State Department of Archaeology at Government Arts College here.

Inaugurating the workshop, the Collector said that 40 participants would be taught about history and archaeological artefacts.

The professors and research scholars attending the workshop would be able to create awareness among the student community about the various historical, cultural and traditional wealth of Tamil Nadu and their importance.

“The participants will also be taken on field visits to historical places in Madurai, Karur, Dindigul and Tirunelveli under the guidance of archaeological experts who would also be taking seminars on various topics,” she said.

According to a release from the District Administration, the workshop was last held in Madurai Thirumalai Nayakkar Mahal in 2015.
