Avinashilingam varsity calls for applications for VC post

The Avinashilingam Institute of Home Science and Higher Education for Women has invited applications for the post of vice-chancellor.

Academicians with a minimum of 10-year experience as a professor in a university or an academic administrative organisation are eligible to apply. Academicians who have served in an equivalent position for 10 years in a reputed research organisation are eligible to apply for the post.

Interested and eligible candidates must send their bio data to the Chancellor, Avinashilingam Institute for Home Science and Higher Education for Women. The last date for receiving the application is July 25.

“According to the UGC third amendment of clause 12.03A of regulations for institutions deemed to be universities, the VC shall be a whole time salaried officer of the institution deemed to be university and shall be appointed by the visitor or chancellor from a panel of three suggested by a search-cum-selection committee. The composition of the committee shall be a nominee of the chancellor, a nominee of the Central Government who shall be an eminent academician nominated by the Government in consultation with the UGC and a nominee of the board of management,” the institute’s Chancellor, Dr. P.K. Krishnakumar, said.

Based on this, a committee of three members with Dr. S.V. Balasubramaniam, chairman Bannari Amman Group (nominee of the chancellor), Prof. Vasudha Kamat, V-C, SNDT Women’s University, Mumbai (HRD ministry nominee) and Dr. S.C. Sharma, former vice chancellor, Tumkur University and office of director, Bangalore (a nominee of the board) has been constituted.

The committee would meet by the last week of this month and recommend three names to the chancellor who would appoint one.
