The Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation (C.C.M.C.) invites ideas and suggestions from the public, to improve Coimbatore, as part of the ‘Make Your City Smart ‘project that was announced recently.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared the ‘Make Your City Smart ‘project and competitions open in Pune, for the first 20 cities that have been selected for the Smart City project. Coimbatore too participated in the campaign through video conferencing. As part of the initiative, the ‘Make Your City Smart’ projects and contests were launched in Coimbatore too.
C.C.M.C. has invited the public from all walks of life to participate in this competition. Participants are expected to submit their proposal to the C.C.M.C. on three topics, namely – renovating Gandhi Park, improving D.B. Road, and improving the junction from Cowley Brown Road up to Gandhi Park.
“Members of the public are invited to participate in this competition. They are expected to make a PowerPoint presentation, and upload the same on to the official website of the C.C.M.C. The idea for improvement however should be workable, and something that can be implemented,” an official from the C.C.M.C. stated. The PowerPoint presentation, we are told, must not exceed 15 slides.
The focus of the Smart City project is to develop the lakes and the areas surrounding the lakes. Alongside, this project also aims to identify and develop a few areas in Coimbatore.
July 25 is the last date to submit the proposals. At the time of publishing this report, the C.C.M.C. had already received one proposal, which is under review.
The best three proposals will win cash prizes. Selected entries will also be displayed at an exhibition that will be organized by the C.C.M.C.
