A visually challenged 65-year-old woman from Ganapathy today sought the District Collector’s intervention in getting back her jewellery and money from her relatives.

According to Rajathiammal, her relatives had promised to get her son married to a girl, who was also her distant relative. The girl, she said, stayed with her for sometime.

In her complaint Rajathiammal alleged the girl developed an affair with another person and absconded suddenly from her house with 25 sovereigns jewellery and some cash.

When Rajathiammal approached her relatives, she was reportedly abused and turned away “Even Saravanampatti police did not help me in getting back my jewellery and cash,” she alleged.

Frustrated with the turn of events, the septuagenarian approached the Collector, T.N. Hariharan, and appealed to him to help her in this regard.
