The Kovai Medical Centre and Hospital has said it had successfully provided with an high end micro neuro surgical treatment for a Bangladesh national.
A 29-year-old patient (name not disclosed) from the neighbouring country was referred to the KMCH by the Military Hospital in Dhaka for treatment of ruptured cerebral aneurysm (balloon in the vessel).
The condition was such that almost for a month the patient was complaining of a severe headache and vomiting with an episode of getting into unconsciousness.
Though the Dhaka hospital treated him accordingly, he had bleeding in the brain vessel again and was referred here.
A team under Dr. Suresh Jayabalan, consultant neuro vascular surgery, performed the highly specialised micro surgery on his brain to occlude the balloon using advanced microscope which not only could carry out an angiogram during the surgery but also could differentiate tumour from the brain.
The micro neuro surgical clipping of the aneurysm was successfully done and the patient returned home within a week’s time, the hospital said in a press release.
“The patient underwent the surgery within two days of admission. This kind of condition occurs only in six per cent of the total population,” it said.
