The Kovai Medical Centre and Hospital (KMCH) opened a 100-bedded multi-speciality hospital in Sulur, on the outskirts of Coimbatore, today. The hospital specializes in trauma and emergency care.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, hospital chairman Dr. Nalla G. Palaniswami said that the hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, with four operation theatres and a 10-bedded intensive care unit. He said that the hospital was set up, with an outlay of Rs.20 crores, to reach more people specially the rural population who are in need of medical and healthcare services.
The hospital chose trauma and emergency care due to the steep rise in the road traffic accidents on the highway, with 285 people succumbing to road accidents in 2015, he said.
Veteran film actor Sivakumar, who inaugurated the hospital, said that it would benefit the rural people who have to rush to the city for medical emergencies.
Air Commodore and Air Officer Commanding, Indian Air Force, Sulur, Sunil Kumar said that the hospital will be a boon to the retired defence people who have to go to city for quality treatment.
