Two senior Congress leaders have said that the party has not made a final decision about the Tamil Nadu assembly poll alliances.

TNCC president, E.V.K.S Elangovan and the party’s national spokesperson, Khushboo, have confirmed that senior Congress party leader Gulam Nabi Azad is expected to arrive at Chennai on February 13 and meet DMK chief Karunanidhi. The final call on pre-poll alliances will be made by the Congress high-command based on the meeting’s outcome.

About the four-party People’s Welfare Front, Elangovan said that it was functioning like AIADMK’s B-team, helping the ruling party in the polls. Criticizing the ‘sticker’ culture in the state, Elangovan said that even brides and grooms were not spared, with Amma headbands adorning their heads.

He also accused the Narendra Modi government of failing to protect the lives of soldiers, which was evident from the recent avalanche deaths in Siachen.
