The newly formed DMDK-PWF gets ready for its first real test of commitment to the cause with the parties failing to reach an agreement on seat sharing. Many of the parties to the alliance are eager to contest the same seats.
The DMDK has announced that it will contest 104 of the 234 seats. The MDMK will fight in 29 constituencies. The VCK, CPI, and CPI (M) will contest in 25 seats each. There are no disputes about the numbers, but the choice of constituencies is not likely to be simple. The arrival of the TMC has only further complicated the scene.
Five days of negotiations later, the parties continue to fight.
Among the disputed constituencies are Virudhunagar (MDMK and TMC want to filed their candidates in the constituency), and the northern districts of the state (VCK and the Left parties consider these their strongholds).
The DMDK has gone ahead and announced its candidates for Trichy West after negotiating with the allies, but the CPI is keen on contesting from the constituency.
