CPI Tamil Nadu unit today urged that the state assembly should be a platform to discuss the problems faced by the people, instead of a stage to show personal enmity.
During the swearing in of newly elected MLAs, both the ruling AIADMK and opposition DMK appeared as if both the parties wanted to work together for constructive goals. However, the beginning of the session was not that cordial, according to the CPI State secretary, R. Mutharasan.
Speaking to the media, he said that both the parties were found raising individual problems, and added that the house should discuss problems like increasing prices of essential commodities, including tomatoes.
Referring to the escalating troubles of the Indian fishermen with the Sri Lankan Navy, Mutharasan said that the BJP, during the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, had sought votes promising to find a permanent solution to the issue. He expressed hope that Modi would find solutions to the Katchaitheevu dispute, along with other long-standing issues like the Mekadatu dam in Karnataka, and the Cauvery water row.
