Soldiers of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) showed up in good numbers along with their family to celebrate the International Yoga Day (IYD). More than 1,000 trainees, officers, staff, along with their family members participated in the celebrations.
Yoga therapist Dr. R. Selvadhevan educated the participants on the importance of making yoga a part of our routine. On Siddhi Yoga, he said that it can be practised by people of all age groups. He told his audience that children and the aged must involve themselves in practising this form of yoga on a daily basis. When practised regularly, Siddhi Yoga keeps various health diseases and disorders at bay.
He also added that lifestyle diseases have become very common these days. “In this contemporary era, health problems such as obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure, and anxiety disorders have become very common among people. Yoga is the perfect health solution. Yoga is beneficial for physical fitness, musculoskeletal functioning, and cardio-vascular health too. It is also very useful in management of diabetes and respiratory disorders. Moreover, practising yoga on a regular basis helps to fight depression, fatigue, anxiety disorders, and stress,” Dr. Selvadhevan said.
The session began with the chanting of Omkar Dhwani, which is chanting of AUM. This was followed with the participants practising the various yoga asanas in the presence of the yoga instructor.
