Flat owners of the Purva Bluemont flats, constructed by the Puravankara Builders, have said that the builders are delaying the handing over of the flats.
According to one of the flat owners, they had booked flats in 2011 and were promised completion by December 2013.
However, the dates were constantly being postponed by the builders, from April 2013 to July 2014, then to December 2014, then August 2015, and now December 2015.
“They have further postponed it to March 2016,” said a flat owner.
He added that the owners had paid anywhere between Rs. 60 and 80 lakh for a three bedroom flat. “We have taken loans from banks and most of us are living in rented houses. We are forced to pay the rent as well as the interest for the loan.”
Another flat owner added that the builders were alleging that approval for EB works and fire safety measures were causing the delay. “They have received enough money from us and are further demanding Rs. 2.80 lakh to complete the remaining works. We feel cheated and request the District Administration to find a solution for this,” she said.
The members who met with the builders along with police officials on Tuesday also petitioned District Collector Archana Patnaik on Monday regarding the same.
