The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) on Wednesday announced that it will field its candidates in 173 out of the 243 seats for the state assembly polls this time. While Mu Karunanidhi seeks re-election from Thiruvarur, his son will contest from Kolathur.
DMK allies will share 61 seats among themselves, with the Congress competing in 41 seats.
Contrary to rumours that Congress’star campaigner Khushboo might be fielded against the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa, the DMK said that they were going to field Simla Muthu Chozhan in the RK Nagar constituency, from where the AIADMK chief is contesting this time.
There are plenty of newcomers in the list of DMK candidates.
As for as Pudhucherry is concerned, DMK will contest in nine seats, and its ally, the Congress, will compete from the remaining 21 out of the total 30 constituencies.
