A Special Court for CBI cases, on Wednesday, convicted former Regional Officer of Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) D. Rajasekar and his wife Yogalakshmi, Assistant Professor, Rice Research Station, Tirur in Thiruvallur District, to two years jail and one year rigorous imprisonment respectively with regard to a disproportionate assets case filed against them.
Additional Special Judge for CBI Cases Kannammal, Chennai, also ordered confiscation of the disproportionate assets worth Rs. 8,70,469 owned by the former CBFC official.
The Anti Corruption Branch of CBI registered and investigated a case against the couple on allegations that Rajasekar, while functioning as CBFC Regional Officer, acquired assets in his name and in the name of his wife disproportionate to their known sources of income.
The charge sheet in the case was filed by CBI against them under sections of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and the verdict was delivered by the court on Wednesday.
