A girl student with cerebral palsy, who was thrown of her school, has decided to seek the help of the authorities and fight back.

Unable to please her school administration with her writing skills, 14-year-old S. Priya was kicked out of her school in Coimbatore. While the issue had happened a year ago, the private school in Rathinapuri, Coimbatore, made up for their mistake by providing free basic computer science training for a year.

But, Priya, the victim, felt bad after not being able to attend her regular classes after the computer sessions ended. She has approached the district administration with her family to seek help.

“I have been studying in the school ever since my first standard and they never had any complaint. But the complaints came only when I reached Class IX,” she said.

Her mother Lakshmi believes that the school had purposely detained her since they believed that she wouldn’t be able to clear the public exams, and this might affect the school’s centum results.

“She studies very well and has good memory power. Her marks are more than 50 percent in all the subjects and she tops in Mathematics. But the school is still insisting that she is unfit for Class X,” she said.

Meanwhile, Priya’s twin sister is studying in Class X in the same school.

“Priya had the problem ever since her birth. She had to take treatment even to walk. Now she has troubles walking and using her hands,” Jayalaksmi, her grandmother, said.
