Thrissur: In a big relief to the CPM-led Left Democratic Front Government, Kerala High Court on Wednesday gave clean chit to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and two others in the SNC Lavalin case.
Upholding the CBI Special Court verdict absolving the three, the High Court in its 202-page judgment came down heavily on the CBI for targeting Vijayan for the last several years.
The verdict was on the review petition submitted by the CBI against the special court judgment of 2013.
The case pertains to Vijayan causing a loss of Rs 374 crore to the exchequer when he was the Electricity Minister during 1996-98 by signing a deal with the Canadian firm SNC Lavalin for the renovation and modernisation of Pallivasal, Sengulam and Panniar hydroelectric projects.
