A team of Coimbatore District Home Guards participated in a massive clean-up drive that was organized by the Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya College of Arts and Science, Coimbatore.
About 37 students from various departments of the college visited the Government Hospital (GH) in Mettupalayam for the clean-up drive today. The team of students and home guards cleaned the five water tanks that supply drinking water to the various wards of the hospital.
“It took about three-hours for the team to clean the water tanks at the GH today. Gloves were provided by the hospital authorities. However, we are looking for corporate houses who can sponsor the cleaning instruments,” M. Jaikumar, Company Commander, Tamil Nadu Home Guards, Coimbatore District said.
He also informed us that the team cleaned the dustbins inside the premises of the Mettupalayam GH. The team of sanitary workers who is responsible to keep the Mettupalayam GH clean is understaffed. In order to make up for this, Sri Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya College of Arts and Science has plans of sending a team of its student-volunteers to clean up the premises every month.
