A culvert under a road leading to Dhaksha’s Vridhha Apartments in IOB Colony has caved in, cutting off links to the main road.
About 400 families are now stranded in their gated community with no access to convenience stores or health facilities.

Vridhha Association officials said the culvert collapsed in the early hours of the morning. They also said that there is a plan to pave a temporary path until the Coimbatore Corporation restores the damaged road. They were also leading the residents on a walking trail from where the main road can be reached.

These developments have cheered some of the residents who were worried that their plans to travel over the Diwali weekend could be scuttled by this incident.

The reporter also saw residents belonging to the community waiting on the other side of the damaged road unable to go home.
