Isha Foundation’s annual celebration of Indian classical music and dance, Yaksha, commenced today with the performance of bharatanatyam exponent Rama Vaidyanathan against the backdrop of the Adiyogi statue, housed at the Isha Yoga Center in Poondi
A release from this foundation stated that this is the sixth year that Yaksha is being celebrated. When translated Yaksha means celestial beings in Indian mythology — attempts to showcase art forms which evolved over thousands of years and are a source of spiritual inspiration. However, these art forms are quickly becoming a forgotten dimension in our lives. In an endeavour to preserve and promote their uniqueness and purity, Isha Foundation hosts Yaksha every year at the Dhyanalinga Complex.
This event provides a platform for the artistes to perform and connoisseurs to see and appreciate ancient art forms.
