Following mixed reactions over M. Karunanithi’s open statement that he was ready to work till 100 years, DMK Treasurer M.K. Stalin claimed that it was his will power that had made him make such a declaration.

The DMK patriarch, in a public meeting at Tiruchi recently, said that he had worked too hard all his life and that he needed rest.

“I believe that people would give me the rest that I rightfully deserve by supporting DMK. Only then my hard work would be fruitful,” Karunanithi said.

However, differing from his statement, the 92-year old on Thursday, in Tanjore, said that he was ready to work till 100 years of age.

While the statement received a rousing reception from the DMK cadre, political leaders went on to criticise the DMK patriarch for giving varying statements.

Reacting to a question raised by a journalist over the issue, DMK Treasurer M.K. Stalin, on Friday said that the decision of his father to work till 100 years of age showed his will power.

“It shows his resilience,” said Stalin who was in Coimbatore to campaign for DMK and its allies.

Stalin had earlier alleged in Chennai Airport that Chief Minister Jayalalithaa was talking about step-by-step prohibition to keep Midas distilleries safe.

He further added that DMK was not using many actors as the party had enough support to win all the 234 constituencies in Tamil Nadu.
