Makkal Nala Kootiyakam, formed by Vaiko, Thirumavalavan and Communist Parties will collapse in the coming days, PMK’s Chief Ministerial candidate Anbumani Ramadoss, said here on Tuesday.

Briefing reporters during a meeting with investors and MSME representatives from the State, Anbumani said that the alliance, which initially started with five members, has now shrunk to three. He added that it would further break in the coming days with the elections just three months away.

Condemning the interim ban on Jallikattu by the Supreme Court, despite the Central Government giving it the go-ahead last week, he said that CM Jayalalithaa should immediately meet with the Prime Minister with all the State ministers and other Party members and “put pressure on the Centre”.

He further alleged that both the Centre and State had miserably failed in lifting the ban on Jallikattu.

Anbumani also alleged that the State Government had not helped MSMEs in the State, and this had resulted in closure of more than 60 per cent of the companies in the recent years. “The Government has neither created a perfect infrastructure facility nor a policy to develop industrial growth here,” he said.

He also added that industrial growth had reduced from 10 per cent to 1.3 per cent in the recent years. “Electricity shortage has been the major concern for the decline in production here, even though there is potential here to supply 24 hours’ power supply. We can increase the production up to 20,000 in five years’ time,” he claimed.

Terming farmers as “Gods”, Anbumani also stated that a separate budget should be set up for agriculture development in the State as it has declined to 12 per cent in the recent years.

Claiming that the State required better skill development and employment opportunities, Anbumani said the Government should focus on improving agriculture rather than patenting liquor, which contributed to one-third of the State’s total revenue.

Representatives from various industrial associations demanded that Anbumani should represent their grievances to the Government. Anbumani also signed a memorandum of understanding with the representatives for enabling growth in the industrial sector.
