Thanjavur: Tamil Nadu now has neither a stable government nor a permanent Governor, said DMDK President Vijayakanth.
Vijayakanth, who visited the city today to meet his party cadre and office-bearers under the ‘Ungaludan Naan’ programme, garlanded the statue of late Chief Minister Kamaraj at Keezhavaasal area. He also hoisted his party flag in the area and distributed sweets to the crowds that had gathered there.
Later, talking to media persons, Vijayakanth took a dig at the media for not raising the issue of farmers’ suicide. “You (media persons) never raise the issue of farmers’ suicide but always ask me questions about political developments,” he said.
The government did not render any help to farmers nor protect them. No one issued any statement in this regard, he added.
On the current political situation in the State, Vijayakanth said that he did not want to interfere in the issue calling it “an internal party issue of the AIADMK.” He, however, expressed the hope that Governor’s rule would not be proclaimed/imposed in Tamil Nadu.
