Tamil Nadu School Education Minister K Pandiarajan today said that a new syllabus for Higher Secondary level (standard 11 and 12) was ready and Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa needs to take a look at it and approve the same.
Speaking on the sidelines of an event here, the Minister said that the new syllabus for standards 11 and 12 in Tamil Nadu may soon come into existence in the near future but it needed the Chief Minister’s approval.
He also explained about the Tamil Nadu Teacher Eligibility Test (TNTET) and said, “The date for the test and more details will be announced soon,” he added.
The TNTET was first conducted in 2012 and only 2000 candidates were found eligible. A re-exam was conducted the same year and about 15,000 candidates were found eligible and they were all appointed teachers.
The eligibility exam has not been conducted for the past three years, as a case on the mark relaxation was being heard by the Supreme Court.
The Court recently ruled that the Government Orders on School Education Department for 5 per cent Mark Relaxation to certain communities and weightage pattern were valid and the dates for the exams are to be announced soon.
