Police, investigating the murder of a security guard in Kodanadu Bungalow, belonging to former Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa, have taken into custody a person from Kerala on suspicion that he had arranged the accused for the break-in a week ago.
Based on an information, police in Kerala nabbed one Manoj alias Samiyar from Walayar and him handed over to Kothagiri police, who are currently investigating the matter, police said.
Samiyar, reportedly having links with hawala transactors, was interrogated in the presence of DIG, Deepak Damor and Nilgiris District SP, Murali Rambha at the station, they said.
Then he was taken to Kodanadu, the spot of occurence, where one guard was hacked to death and another injured on April 24, before stealing valuables by breaking open a door in the bungalow.
Manoj is being brought here for further inquiry, they said.
Police have identified the involvement of 11 persons in the crime and the key accused, Kanagaraj, a former driver of Jayalalithaa, was killed in a suspicipus accident, while his co-conspirator, Sayan hospitalised after he met with a separate accident.
Four others arrested on charges of their involvement in the murder cum dacoity have been lodged in the Central Jail here.
