The nexus between a section of police, politicians and anti-social elements was the main reason behind the increasing crime rates in Tamil Nadu, Tamil People Movement leader P. Nedumaran alleged today.

“The law and order is worsening because of some black sheep in the police. There is a nexus between them, politicians and anti-social elements,” he told reporters.

He appealed to the State government to monitor the situation and take action to prevent crimes – especially atrocities against women, murders and sexual assault on minor girls.

On the Katchatheevu issue, Nedumaran said the Centre had every right to retrieve it as the Sri Lankan government had breached the agreement.

On developing the Colachel Port, he said it would held in development of southern districts.

Nedumaran said Tamil scholars and experts were expected to participate in the Tamil conference to be held in Thanjavur.
